Over Thanksgiving weekend, flames engulfed the NorthWoods’ Boiler Shed. Thanks to a rapid response from the Charleston Fire Department, the blaze was contained but not before destroying our new wood-fired boiler, back-up oil furnace and much of our winter wood supply. Thankfully, no one was injured and the blaze did not spread to the main building or nearby tractor shed.<\/p>\n
The fire struck just as the long winter heating season is beginning. We are working quickly to develop both short-term heating and long-term replacement plans. Insurance will help but will not cover the full replacement cost of the building or boiler system.<\/p>\n
