\"JaredFifteen Orleans County residents turned out for a recent event at NorthWoods to meet Jared Nunnery, the newly appointed Orleans County Forester. We hope that many more of you will have a chance to meet Jared!<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope to help landowners strengthen relationships with their land, as stewardship of land is driven by a strong connection with the land,\u201d says Jared. \u201cAnd for landowners who already have a well-established relationship with their land I hope to be able to provide new tools and technical resources to help them achieve their management goals and objectives. When landowners are connected with their land they care about their land, and when they care about their land they are involved in the management of their land, and that is when good things happen!\u201d<\/p>\n

Jared started working for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation<\/a> (FPR) in the summer of 2012 as a State Lands Forester out of the St. Johnsbury office. Before joining the FPR, Jared spent 3 years working for SmartWood, a non-profit in Richmond, Vermont where he worked as an auditor of forest management practices both in the U.S. and internationally. Prior to working for SmartWood Jared worked as a consultant on a variety of projects related wildlife habitat management, climate change adaptation and mitigation projects, and forest management. \u00a0Jared began his career by spending four years as a research technician working in a variety of forest types in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, New York, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. \u00a0Jared earned his B.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Vermont, and his M.S. in Forestry from the University of Vermont. \u00a0Jared lives in Hyde Park with his son Finn and wife Ashley.
