Sterling College<\/a>‘s Winter Intensive provides students with the opportunity to dig deep into a subject, and only that subject, for two straight weeks. For students in my course, while the snowpack was on the thin side, we certainly dug in to backcountry skiing in Vermont.\u00a0We found snow in likely places when we left the lowlands, and reached the summits of Mt. Mansfield, Bald Mtn, and the ridge of the Bolton Trapps Traverse under the power of our muscles and skins attached to our skis.\u00a0 We enjoyed snow made soft by rain, peeks of sunshine, the path beat down by a moose and graced by his shed antler.\u00a0 We utlilized ropes and chairs as an easier way to the top – to test our turns for more challenging runs.\u00a0 The course culminated in an overnight in a rustic, cozy cabin at the base of Huntington Ravine on Mt. Washington.\u00a0 Eat, Sleep, Ski, and learning along the way.\u00a0 What a great course!<\/p>\n
