Our Hopkins Hill Trail has become rutted from unauthorized ATVs and off-road vehicle use. While we recognize that off-roading is one way to enjoy the outdoors, <strong><em>recreational motorized vehicles are prohibited<\/em><\/strong> from trails on the NorthWoods property. This includes the trail extending from Hopkins Hill Rd (0.3 miles from the Tripp Hill Rd intersection) to Calhoun Rd (0.25 miles beyond last house on Calhoun Rd). Both ends of this trail (0.3 mile and 0.25 mile segments) are designated as town legal trails, and the <strong><i>Town of Charleston prohibits motorized use of legal trails<\/i><\/strong> except for property access by adjacent landowners and snowmobile access by permission of the Charleston selectboard.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Trails on the NorthWoods property are open to the public for non-motorized recreation, and we hope you&#8217;ll hike, ski, or snowshoe here often! There is no trail fee; donations for trail use are appreciated.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Please help spread the word. We will be working to post signs and install gates on some of our trails, but we believe the best way to ensure respectful use is by talking with friends and neighbors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>We&#8217;ve received questions from trail users who believed Hopkins Hill Trail was a Class 4 town road, which it is <strong><i>not<\/i><\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/vtransmap01.aot.state.vt.us\/Maps\/TownMapSeries\/ORLEANS_Co\/CHARLESTON\/CHARLESTON_MILEAGE_2016.pdf\">Click here for a map of town roads and legal trails in Charleston.<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Questions?
