As of now, the park has a 240\u2019 Universal Access trail that spurs from the glacial erratic. From the ADA trail, there\u2019s a small footpath that leads to the lower parking area and a brand new trail that leads to the wooded, multi-use trails. The footpath in the meadow crosses wet areas on bog bridges past an old birch tree with scenic views of Lake Willoughby and the glacial erratic in the distance. The \u201clollipop loop\u201d through the woods follows a stream with two crossings. This trail is intended for hiking, snowshoeing, and backcountry cross country skiing. Shout out to Luke O\u2019Brien from the Vermont Department of Forest Parks and Recreation for giving this trail a fresh coat of blazes!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Corps spent a week improving walking trails and building bog bridges for a private land owner in Derby, VT. They cleared brush and improved trail tread.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Currently, the crew is working up on the Burke Mountain summit to complete a short Universal Access trail that spurs from the parking lot. This ADA trail starts at the parking lot and is connected to the summit trail but instead leads to an overlook of the Victory State Forest. So far, the crew has moved a truckload of rip-rap and three loads of Stay-Mat to get this trail ready for users of all abilities. They also plan on improving the existing trail network near the summit by brushing back the trail, clearing drainages, improving bog bridges and the lean-to and conducting trash patrol.
