Thanks to Vermont PBS, NorthWoods is featured in a new season episode of Vermont Outdoor Journal. Program host Lawrence Pyne explores the trail building process while hiking the new Middle Mountain Trail being built by the NorthWoods Conservation Corps Backcountry Crew in the remote forests of Avery’s Gore. The program demonstrates how multiple partners, including NorthWoods Stewardship Center, Green Mountain Club, Vermont Forest, Parks and Recreation and Plum Creek Timber Company have come together to develop trails on the Kingdom Heritage Lands in far northeastern Vermont. Interviews with NorthWoods Trails Director Luke O’Brien, Backcountry crewmembers, and project partners reveal the long-range planning and determined trail work necessary to build a sustainable, long-distance hiking trail in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

NorthWoods acknowledges the support and participation of project partners Jean Haigh (Green Mountain Club), Louis Bushey (VT Department Forests, Parks and Recreation), and Chris Fife (Plum Creek Timber) plus many other participating landowners, volunteers, crewmembers, staff and funders.
