Board Member, East Burke
Disa grew up in Stowe, Vermont, enjoying a childhood of endless outdoor activities. She graduated from UVM with a major in Anthropology which she thoroughly enjoyed, and went on to work with kids in schools and through coaching and camp settings.
Disa and her husband, Doug (furniture maker), moved to East Burke in 2001 where they raised 3 kids. They have loved the community and treasured the limitless forms of outdoor recreation. Today, they own and run the Burke Bike Barn and Maple Grove Farmhouse, which are rental properties for visiting mountain bikers & skiers, and Disa helps Doug manage his businesses, the Vermont Table Company and Clarner Woodworks.
Disa served on the board of the Lyndon Area Youth Hockey Association for 2 terms while their sons were moving through the program, then on the board of the Burke Mountain Club & Library Association. She is excited to be involved with the NorthWoods Stewardship Center, and is especially passionate about connecting with nature through education and recreation. Disa’s kids attended a number of NWSC camps and benefitted from the educational outreach at Burke Town School, so she has seen first hand how impactful the programs are!
