Beginner Use and Safety & Level 1
Cost: $200 per level
Saturday June 20, and Sunday June 21, 2026
Women & Our Woods Vermont invites you to learn to be safe with a chainsaw through these two offered courses: Beginner Use and Safety and Level 1 Game of Logging.
Expert instructors from Northeast Woodland Training will teach the fundamentals of safe chainsaw use, precision tree felling, and equipment care. These courses are designed to introduce the safe handling of a chainsaw, as well as boosting the confidence level of anyone who has very little or no experience with a saw.
Topics covered: parts of a chainsaw, safety, bucking (cutting an already felled tree), and basic maintenance.
Participants should bring a helmet with face shield, eye and ear protection, or chaps if they have them, otherwise these will be provided during the class. If you don’t have protective equipment we recommend waiting until after the class to purchase it, since you’ll learn about different types of protective gear.
These courses are an excellent foundation for someone who may go on to attend higher Game of Logging training. Class size is limited to 10 each level.
Level 1 participants for this session are required to have completed the Beginner Use & Safety course in the past.
The minimum age for Game of Logging classes at NorthWoods is 16 years old. Participants ages 16-17 must have a parent/guardian waiver.
