NorthWoods Stewardship Center is pleased to announce a grant from the Manchester, NH based Agnes M. Lindsay Foundation to offer scholarships for children attending NorthWoods summer camps, including new Mountain Bike, Earth Sisters, and Science Discovery Camps. Full and partial scholarships are available.

coverboard24“Every kid deserves to experience the camaraderie and direct connection to the natural world that NorthWoods camps provide,” says NorthWoods Camps Director Maria Young. “We’re fortunate to partner with Agnes M. Lindsay to help make camps possible for area families.” All camps include a homemade lunch.

Always looking for new ways to engage young people with the outdoors, NorthWoods is offering two new camps for 2014. The new Mountain Bike Adventure Camp on Burke Mountain, July 28 to August 1, combines cross-country and single track instruction and tours with camp staples like swimming, hiking, and trail building. The all-female Earth Sisters Camp, July 30 to August 1, will emphasize primitive skills, crafts, and nature exploration and interpretation—just for girls ages 8-13.

For young scientists, Science Discovery Camp offers the chance to perform field study and scientific sampling alongside practicing scientists and researchers.

NorthWoods also offers a full schedule of day and canoe camps for children ages 6-14. Early registration is advised.

To request a camp brochure, registration materials, or scholarship application, please contact Maria Young, (802) 723-6551 ext. 115, or email maria@northwoodscenter.org.
