Backcountry Olympics Camp

July 28 – August 1 Ages: 10-15 Campers will earn badges and medals in this backcountry olympics-style camp. We’ll have challenges on all terrain, all across the Northwoods campus. Campers will participate in activities like cross-cut sawing, ax throwing, archery, and atlatl as a team. Campers will be awarded badges based on their proficiency level within these areas. Jenny Newland

Jenny grew up in the Northeast Kingdom surrounded by family, fields, wetlands, and forests. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in earth science, she joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in Bolivia working with women’s groups and soaking in amazing culture and scenery. Celebrating the All Persons Trail Opening

Celebrating 35 Years of Stewardship

On August 24th, the NorthWoods community came together to celebrate our 35th Anniversary of conservation and education. The weather was perfection and we were amazed at the turnout, with an approximate count of 46 people helping to hike ALL the fire tower step and decking materials up the mountain! Marie Desrosiers

Originally from a seaside town in Massachusetts, Marie made her way to the NEK and the mountains in 2018 after many years of camping and hiking vacations around Vermont. Morgan Larson

Morgan Larson (they/them) is another Southerner who has found their way to Abenaki territory! Originally from Anadarkos-Caddo territory (so called Dallas, Texas) Morgan grew up loving the magic of the Blackland Prairie and Cross Timbers forest, having artistic, spiritual, and recreational relationships with these beautiful (and endangered!) ecosystems. After graduating from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in Sociology in 2011, Morgan became a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist for Denton and Dallas county respectively.
