Charles Hill was born and raised on the shoreline of Connecticut in the town of Clinton. His love for the outdoors started when he was in the Boy Scouts where hiking and camping became hobbies that he enjoyed outside of the Scouts. After graduating high school in 2013, not really knowing what to expect, Charles had taken a summer job working at the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge with the YCC as a crew member. This is where Charles discovered that he wanted to work in the outdoors; he changed his degree from audio and visual production to environmental engineering technology. When the six week season ended and NorthWoods Stewardship Center hosted its end of the year Corps celebration, Charles was introduced to the Northeast Kingdom. He had fallen in love with the NEK and Vermont. Charles worked at Stewart B for the next 3 years a co-leader of the crew.

In 2017 he was asked if he wanted to serve an AmeriCorps position at NorthWoods that he happily took. When his AmeriCorps term ended in August of 17’ he was asked to stay on the Pro crew through the fall. By this time NorthWoods and the NEK had a special place in his heart. In 2018 he did the spring Pro crew, was the NorthWoods Crew Co-Leader, and fall Pro crew. In 2019 he was the Backcountry Crew Leader and started his first full year as the AmeriCorps Conservation Corps Field Assistant.
