  • Second Vermont Butterfly Atlas Volunteer Workshop

    Saturday, June 21 10-2pm Butterflies are in your garden, along your hiking trails, and even along the side of the road. Did you know that you can help protect them just by writing down what you see? New or experienced butterfly watchers alike can join the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and the NorthWoods Stewardship Center to learn how to contribute to the Second Vermont Butterfly Atlas.     Saturday, August 30, 8:30am-12:30pm, Free! Interested in the work of our Riparian Lands Crew? Join us for a day of seed collection this August, when we'll be collecting and processing chokecherry. This is a great opportunity to get out in the field and learn id and collection methods, no prior training necessary. Attendees meet and park at NorthWoods Stewardship Center at 8:30 am.     Sunday, September 21, 1pm-3pm Learn about seed id, collection, and processing techniques used for fall species and how you can help us scout for species of interest. Attendees of the classroom workshop will be invited to practice what they have learned by participating in a field collection workshop in October. This course is eligible for credits with the Society of American Foresters.     Saturday, October 25, 8:30am-12:30pm Practice seed scouting, collection and processing techniques used for fall riparian woody plant species. This event is open to the public and is a great opportunity to get out in the field, no prior training necessary. Free, but limited attendee slots, so please register early! We will meet at NorthWoods Stewardship Center and be ready to depart in our vehicles to the collection site at 8:30, please bring boots and layers and come prepared for 4 hours in the woods and fields, whatever the weather. Outreach Events and Workshops Cancellation Policy: Unless otherwise noted, 50% refunds will be provided for cancellations made at least a week before workshop start date. No refunds for reservations cancelled less than seven days before the workshop start date. Workshop dates and venues are subject to change. NorthWoods Stewardship Center reserves the right to cancel a program at any time, in which case NorthWoods will notify registrants via email and a full refund will be provided.
