  • Base Camp

    At Base Camp NorthWoods campus will serve as home base as a launching spot for exploring the Northeast Kingdom on this ultimate outdoor adventurer camp. Throughout the week we visit different areas and try different methods of exploration in the Northeast Kingdom. Swimming, biking, hiking, & paddling are all on the agenda of this action packed camp experience. Thursday’s adventure will last until Friday afternoon following an overnight backpacking adventure that will test camper’s endurance and backcountry skills. No experience necessary; all outdoor gear provided. Day camp with one overnight.

Join us for a day of seed collection this August, when we'll be collecting and processing chokecherry. This is a great opportunity to get out in the field and learn id and collection methods, no prior training necessary. Attendees meet and park at NorthWoods Stewardship Center at 8:30 am.   • Game of Logging Levels 1 & 2

    Level 1 – Saturday, September 20 Level 2 – Sunday, September 21 Cost: $250 per level Expert instructors from Northeast Woodland Training will teach the fundamentals of safe chainsaw use, precision tree felling, and equipment care. Take the guesswork out of sawing- your safety matters! The minimum age for Game of Logging classes at NorthWoods is 16 years old. Participants ages 16-17 must have a parent/guardian waiver. This event is open to the public and is a great opportunity to get out in the field, no prior training necessary. Free, but limited attendee slots, so please register early!     Sunday, November 9, 8:45am-1pm Do you love spending time in the Willoughby State Forest on skis or snowshoes? We know it is a favorite network for many locals and visitors. NorthWoods Stewardship Center contracts with the State of Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation to groom the ski and snowshoe trails in Willoughby State Forest.     Friday, January 2, 1pm-4pm An afternoon of adventure & community building. Open to female and gender-expansive youth ages 9-14 from the Northeast Kingdom. Cross-country ski, hot chocoloate, and conversation led by local female mentors. Designed to get more girls adventuring outside, building community with each other, and learning leadership skills! No refunds for reservations cancelled less than seven days before the workshop start date. Workshop dates and venues are subject to change. NorthWoods Stewardship Center reserves the right to cancel a program at any time, in which case NorthWoods will notify registrants via email and a full refund will be provided.
