RFQ (Request for Qualifications) for General Contractor, New Barn Construction at NorthWoods Stewardship Center
NorthWoods Stewardship Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit conservation and education organization located in East Charleston, Vermont. NorthWoods is seeking a qualified contractor for the construction of a new conditioned 1296 sf conservation barn to serve as a workspace and maintenance shop and a nonconditioned attached 1296 sf shed and storage space.
Qualified and interested contractors should submit an RFQ. The RFQ must include the following: confirmation of compliance with insurance minimums, a list of 3 similar completed projects and location, estimated timeline of construction, as well as two professional references with phone contact. Architectural drawings and specifications provided upon request.

Timeline: RFQ due October 23, 2020 by 4 pm. Contractors will be notified if they have been invited to bid by October 28, 2020. Bids due by November 19, 2020 and selection made by December 1, 2020.
Construction Timeline: Work to begin in Spring 2021, and completed by September 15, 2021. Schedule to be submitted with bid.
(Note: Interior Finish Work, Exterior siding and soffit, and upstairs storage to be completed outside of the scope of this contract.)
The Contractor must be able to provide insurance coverage for the following:
- General Liability & Automobile: $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate.
- Professional Liability: $2,000,000.
- Workers’ Compensation: $500,000 per injury.
Funding Requirements: Funding for this project is provided by the USDA and NVDA as well as private contributions. The selected contractor will be required to sign a contract detailing compliance with relevant Code for Federal Regulations.
