Position: Maintenance Assistant
Location: Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge – Errol, NH

Job Description: The NorthWoods Stewardship Center is partnering with the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge Center to provide a Maintenance Assistant for the summer of 2024. One full-time assistant will assist Refuge Staff with general maintenance duties including, but not limited to:  performing minor electrical maintenance and repairs; installing and repairing cabinets; performing general woodworking activities (e.g., cutting boards to length, shaping, sanding); painting interior and exterior building surfaces; and cleaning/maintaining machinery in safe working order. Additional tasks may include driving and performing general maintenance on trucks with rated weight capacities up to and including one ton; maintaining boats and marine engines; maintaining station grounds by mowing lawns and trimming trails; installing and repairing display panels in visitor centers and assuring that visitor facilities are clean and well maintained- including regular cleaning of outhouses, toilets, trash receptacles, kayak ramps, and parking areas.

General Requirements:
● U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
● Valid state driver’s license.
● Must be able to work independently; must have good observational skills and communication skills.
● Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/ evening shifts.
● Willingness to follow federal COVID-19 policies and guidance.

Wages and Benefits:
● $18-19/hr
● Federal Holidays Off
● Housing may be available
● Work vehicle and equipment provided
● Wilderness First Aid and CPR training

Duration of Employment: 9 weeks, Full-Time Seasonal
Start Date: June 8th, 2024
End Date: August 9th, 2024
