In this third episode of the Wonder of Woods & Water, in partnership with the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, Wyatt talks about the characters and characteristics of healthy waterways, including beaver dams and buffer zones! The NorthWoods watershed crew is dedicated to improving waterway health, and many of their projects include re-planting streamside buffer zones with trees and shrubs to increase the stability of the soil and improve water quality.

The audience’s home task this week is to mimic the filtering effect that a stable riparian buffer has on the water that moves through it!
